Children and middle school youth are invited to come straight up to the Flex Room for a special worship service planned for your kids (children will NOT start in the sanctuary on this day).  The theme will be shared in the story, "Be Careful What You Wish For: A Halloween Story."  Curious parents are welcome to attend.

Religious Education Open House
Thursday, November 8, 7:00 p.m. RE Floor
Are you curious about your child's religious education?  Would you like to meet the Spirit Play teachers and read the stories your children have been listening to?  Have you always wanted to visit Hogwarts and Diagon Alley-- have you wondered why a Unitarian Universalist church would use the Harry Potter series to teach our principles?  Come to the open house, meet the teachers, review curriculum, look at your children's work.  We look forward to showing it off!

High School Youth Lock In!
Saturday, November 10, 7:00 p.m.
Youth should bring snacks, sleeping bags, pads, pillows, and toiletries to this event! It will more time for bonding and fun with some spirituality woven in.  Please RSVP to Alicia Alford,alialf4@gmail.com if you/your youth is planning on attending this event.

Social Action Sunday-- Martinmas!
Sunday, November 11, 9:15 and 11:15 service
This holiday celebrates St. Martin of Tours-- alive during the 4th century AD.  According to legend he joined the Roman army and was sent to Amiens, where, on horseback, he met a starving man begging alms at the city gates. Moved by deep compassion, he tore his red, woolen his cloak in two with his sword and gave half to the beggar. The next night, he had a dream in which he saw Jesus wearing the half of the cloak he'd given away, surrounded by angels. In the dream, Our Lord asked him to look at it and to see if he recognized it. He did, of course, and realized that he must convert and devote his life to Christ.  We will share the story of his life, make lanterns to light the way and fold the clothing that was donated as part of our clothing drive-- be sure to bring children's clothes on Sunday to include in our offering.

Multigenerational Celebration of Martinmas
Wednesday, November 14, 5:00 to 6:00
The congregation will be invited to participate in the spirit of Martinmas in connection with our community night dinner.  People of all ages are invited to make lanterns to combine with the ones we make on Sunday.  Before dinner, we will light them and have a parade around all the dinner tables.  Hope you will join the fun!

Coming of Age Mandatory Orientation for Youth, Parents and Mentors
Sunday, November 18, 12:45 (after 2nd service) in the Flex Room
Coming of Age is a program for youth in grades 7-8.  It helps our youth develop a religious identity.  Youth work with an adult mentor to complete several activities and requirements.  It culminates in a recognition worship service where youth share their personal credos. Youth and parents should receive an invitational letter in the mail tomorrow or Saturday explaining all the details.  If you have a child in 7th or 8th grade and you don't receive a letter please contact me ASAP so I can get you the information you need to decide if this extracurricular activity is right for your youth.

Leadership Challenge for Coming of Age Participants
Sunday, November 25, time TBD
Participants in the Coming of Age program will have a leadership bonding activity.  Details will be shared as they come available.

YRUU (High School Youth Group) Movie Extravaganza
Sunday, November 25, 2:30-6:30 (loft)
High School youth are invited to a movie extravaganza-- they will watch and discuss one or two movies of interest.  Bring snacks!

Family/Children's Choir Rehearsal Schedule
Sunday, November 25, 10:30-11:15
Our family/children's choir will begin rehearsals for our Christmas Pageant on December 23 where we will overcome the Grinch Who Stole Christmas!  Subsequent rehearsals will be between services on 12/2, 12/9, and 12/16.

That's it for now.  Hope to see you at many of these wonderful events!
